Ayurvedic Neuro Therapy in Ayurvedic Text
In ancient ayurvedic text, Ayurvedic Neuro therapy is described at different places as Vaat vyadhi chikitsa. Acharya Sushruta has mentioned the role of manual manipulation techniques in Bhagna Chikitsa adhyaya.
In Saubhagya Ayurveda, Dr. Vijay Prakash is first realized the importance of this ayurvedic context and has applied in his clinical practice.
It is described in Sushrut samhita chikitsa sthan Chapter 3, shlok No. 17 as follows:
Reduction is a surgical procedure to align a fracture or dislocation of bone and joint, to its correct position. This sense of the term “bringing back to normal” was first ever recognized by Acharya Sushruta. When a bone fractures, the fragments lose their alignment in the form of displacement or angulations. For the fractured bone to heal without any deformity the bony fragments must be re-aligned to their normal anatomical position.
This is mentioned for the treatment of bhagna (fracture) by means of reduction – (Bhagno ko yatha sthan lane ke vidhi). Bhagna is not only meant for fracture but it also signifies the other soft tissue injuries and joint dislocation, i.e. spoiling of the joints. As in cases of AVN, the joint start gradually spoiling or necroses due to lack of blood supply. So in these cases, if we maintain the proper alignment of hip joint in a repeated manner due to which it becomes possible to start proper blood supply. If there is any deposition of fat or lipid molecule in blood vessels, then they can move out from blood circulation and obstruction is removed and blood circulation is also maintained.
In above shlok no. 17, Maharishi Sushruta tells that if the alignment of patients’ bone is disturbed then we have to maintain the alignment of the bone manually by applying pressure at different angles gently. Therapist should push up and pull down the affected bone or body part, to make it in proper position. If the bone is displaced or dislocate then we have to try to pull the bone, to bring it back in its normal position.
In the shlok no. 26 of sushrut chikitsa sthan 3rd chapter (Bhagna chikitsa ), in the cases of thigh bhagna (soft tissue injury) carefully reduction (positioning the joint or bone in its place by hands) of the joint should be done by application of oil locally. After that traction should be apply by a cloth and splint of barks of tree of sheet guna should also be applied at proper place.
In the shlok no. 27 of sushrut chikitsa 3rd chapter (Bhagna chikitsa), it is also described that in case of hip joint dislocation Circular motion should be performed and after that traction should be applied for the reduction of dislocated bone.
With right step. You can save your joint or bone and can avoid any chances of bone / joint replacement.
